Welcome to Waterbank Stud

Waterbank Stud is based 10 miles south of Gloucester, in the stunning idyllic village of Frampton on Severn.  Established in 2005, Waterbank Stud aims to produce top class Sports Knabstruppers.

We are very passionate about the Knabstrupper breed.  These horses have the ability, presence and temperament to excel in our equestrian sports.  Due to their excellent temperaments and rideability, they are very popular with para riders with some Knabstruppers now having won Para Olympic medals!  They are also becoming more and more popular in the world of showjumping and Eventing as well as dressage and driving.

We believe the Knabstrupper breed is ideal for the vast majority of the equestrian population in UK.  With most equestrians in UK owning horses as a hobby and working full time outside of equestrian sport, it is important that they own a horse which is easy to keep and can be picked up and put down to work around their families and other commitments, yet still have the ability and presence to win!

We breed for rideability, temperament and conformation as the utmost importance.  Being hobby breeders you can also be assured our foals are exceptionally well looked after and handled from the day they are born.

Our foundation Knabstrupper stallion Tornado af Knabstrup was a classic example of what we aim to breed.  He could be left all week just going out in the field during the day without being worked, then he would be hacked on a Saturday and taken to a competition on Sunday and I could always be sure he would be just as well behaved and sensible as the weekend before….and usually win!

Sadly Tornado af Knabstrup passed away in 2019, however Waterbank Stud have retained his last 2 fillies which were by Tornado out of our Knabstrupper mare Vile Aetsted.  Now in 2023 these 2 mares Waterbank Sirani and Waterbank Nikita are in foal to the Knabstrupper stallion Tresaison Ricochet and the Trakehner stallion Holme Park Legend
